In this guide, we will be showing you the steps to successfully import a Trial Balance via CSV.
Please note that we have no restrictions on where you gather your CSV data from.
Creating your CSV
1. To upload a CSV successfully, please ensure you clear heading for each of your columns. We recommend using Code, Description, Debit, Credit as seen below;
Note: You are able to use other headers such as "Account", DR, CR, ect" and the above is only our recommendation
2. Once you have created your trial balance within Excel. Please ensure you save this a CSV (Comma Delimited). Other formats such as CSV-UTF8 are not supported currently in MWP.
Importing the CSV into MyWorkpapers
1. Select the option to "Import Trial Balance" from within the Trial Balance page:
2. Select Custom CSV from the import options;
3. Press the "Choose file" option and select your CSV from your local system;
4. Once you have selected your CSV, you can proceed by pressing "upload";
5. On Step 2, you are going to keep the Source Bookkeeping system option blank. You will then select the column header which will locate your headings used within your CSV.
This will then allo you to match the headings of your CSV to the column names of the trial balance;
6. On the first import neither of the below import options are applicable. However, if you are doing a re-import of a trial balance you can use one of the two options;
Zero All Trial Balance Account Balance Before Importing - This will remove your current figures and overwrite these with the latest figures. Any lines which might not be included in your re-import will remain in the trial balance but with zero values and keeping any references or tickmarks which may of been applied against it.
Delete Existing Chart Of Accounts and All Associated Markup - This will delete all lines and data in the Trial Balance and reimport the new trial balance as fresh.
Once you have decided on the import options, you can then proceed by pressing "next"
7. On Step 3, you will be presented with a preview of what you are uploading into MyWorkpapers. At the bottom of the summary, you will see the Total number of accounts and the value of both YTD Credit and Debit. This should show it balancing at the bottom.
8. You can then choose whether the CSV being imported contains Interim figures or Current Yeat Initial. Once chosen you can press "Import"
9. Finally you will be navigated to a page that will advise that your Trial Balance Import has been completed with the option to navigate back to the Working Paper Index or Trial Balance pages;
