There may be times when you need to unlink a client from Iris Accounts Production and MyWorkpapers Audit / Exempt. These instances can be caused by incorrect figures being uploaded from IRIS Accounts Production into MyWorkpapers, a need to re-export the Trial Balance or other miscellaneous reasons.
The below guides you through a step-by-step process of how to unlink / remove the integration between IRIS Accounts Production and MyWorkpapers Audit / Exempt, allowing you to re-export the trial balance.
Safety first
Before completing any of the below, we strongly recommend that you create a backup of:
- The existing MyWorkpapers Trial Balance
- Existing MyWorkpapers adjustments
- Your IRIS Accounts Production Posting File
The steps to create backups in Account Production and MyWorkpapers are listed below.
Taking Backups
Step 1: Select the client within MyWorkpapers and go to the Working Trial balance
Step 2: In the Working Trial Balance select File | Export | Export Trial Balance to CSV
Step 3: The system will ask you to download this and the CSV will be saved in your local Downloads folder on your computer.
Step 4: Open the Journal Entries module in MyWorkpapers
Step 5: In the Journal Entries module select File | Export | Export Journal entries as CSV | All Journals
Step 6: The system will ask you to download this and the CSV will be saved in your local Downloads folder on your computer.
Step 7: Open IRIS Accounts Production and access the appropriate client
Step 8: Create an Extract of your client by selecting Client | Extract | Save to a safe location
Unlinking the client
Step 1: Set adjustments too unadjusted
a. In MyWorkpapers access the client and select Journal Entries. This will be display all journal entries, including journal entries imported from IRIS Accounts Production and those originating in MyWorkpapers.
b. Find any journals created in MyWorkpapers and amend the type of adjustment to be blank (i.e. unassigned to neither Adjusted or Unadjusted)
Step 2: Import the changes to IRIS Accounts Production
a. Open IRIS Account Production and click on Posting to access the posting screen
b. Select Yes to import the changes from MyWorkpapers. All MyWorkpapers journal adjustments will now cancel in IRIS Account Production
c. Exit from the posting screen
Step 3: Delete Journals Imported from IRIS Accounts Production
a. Return to Journal Entries menu in MyWorkpapers
b. Select the File | Edit mode
c. Find any journal imported from IRIS Accounts Production and press the Delete Do NOT delete any journal entries which originated / were created in MyWorkpapers. ONLY delete the journals imported from IRIS Accounts Production
Step 4: Unlink the client in IRIS Accounts Production
a. Return to IRIS Accounts Production and select Posting | Post file Maintenance | Entries
b. Select the posting file which contains the trial balance you originally uploaded (i.e. the integrated posting file) and press Change
c. In the Change Posting Entry screen, tick Reset Trial Balance Export to IRIS OpenAudit
d. Press OK and your IRIS Accounts Production and MyWorkpapers client are now unlinked
Re-exporting the Trial Balance
Step 1: Re-export your trial balance to MyWorkpapers as you would normally by pressing the Export to IRIS OpenAudit button
Step 2: Return to the Journal Entries menu in MyWorkpapers and set any MyWorkpapers adjustments back to their original adjusted state
Step 3: Open IRIS Account Production and access the posting screen and select Yes to import the adjustments from MyWorkpapers.
All journal adjustments will now be added back to the trial balance. Please note that all of the original adjustments listed in MyWorkpapers as adjustments being imported from IRIS Accounts Production are now included in the “Draft” trial balance column
