Step One: Locate and Select Import Trial Balance
- From the files Working Paper Index, click on the Trial Balance button
- Select Import Trial Balance
Step Two: Select the Method of Import

After clicking import trial balance, you'll be taken to our integrations page
- Select the Custom CSV import option
Step Three: Locate and Import The CSV
There are two methods to import your CSV document.
- Click the Choose File button, locate and select the relevant CSV document
- Locate the CSV document within your folders and then drag and drop the document onto the Choose File button
- Once either method has been done click Upload
Step Four: Mapping Trial Balance Columns
- In this step you need to ensure that the CY Debit & Credit fields are set to -Select- and that the PY Debit & Credit fields are mapped to the columns in your CSV file then click next
Step Five: Double Check the Figures
In this step make sure to double-check that only the prior year's figures are pulling through
Step Six: Choose the Correct Duplicate Accounts Handling
At the bottom of this page, you will find a drop-down option for Duplicate Accounts Handling make sure to select the correct option for your import
- Account Code Only – Select this if your file may contain multiple accounts that have the same account code but different account names and you want to combine them on confirming the import.
- Account Name/Description Only – Select this if your trial balance doesn’t have account codes, and it may contain rows that have the same name or description and you want to combine them on confirming the import.
- Both Account Codes and Account Name/Description – Select this if your trial balance may contain rows where the account code is duplicated due to sub-accounts but the names are different. Where the account name is different multiple rows will be created in MyWorkpapers.
Step 7: Import
Click the Import button to complete the process.
You’ve now successfully imported the client’s prior year balances into MyWorkpapers and you can now start preparing the workpaper file!
